PALE POLICIES FOR EVENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Requirements for a complete event announcement:
- All information to go into the Pale must be received by the Pale editor by the first of the appropriate month April 1st is the deadline for May. The September and January issues have early deadlines, July 20th and November 20th.
- All events must be listed on the calendar to be included in The
Pale. Contact the kingdom calendar secretary to have your event listed.
- All submissions to the Pale must include:
- Name of the event.
- Date of the event (day, month, and Common Era year).
- The time of the event: "Site opens... - Site closes..."
- The name of the sponsoring group. (Incipient groups must also include your sponsoring group in the ad.)
- The location (name, street address, and town) of the site.
- The name (both Society and real), address and telephone number of the autocrat.
- Written directions. Please do not send maps, they will not be used.
- A list of all fees that are to be charged at the event.
Other useful Information:
- Child care information.
- Handicap accessibility information.
- A listing of activities.
Fees
- Each event may have a seven line preview and a quarter page announcement free for one issue. They may not run in the same issue and the preview must proceed the quarter page ad.
- Kingdom level events (Coronations and Crowns and similar events designated by the Kingdom) may have three free half page ads(or the equivelant). Additional space may be purchased. In the case of expanding on the size of an existing ad, the cost is the difference between the expanded size and what you are entitled to get for free.
- Eighth page ads will cost $20.
- Quarter page ads will cost $35.
- Half Page ads will cost $60.
- Full page ads will cost $115.
Guidelines for Announcement Submissions:
- Art work may be sent with the ad. Art work wiil be used where possible.
- Ad information may be e-mailed or mailed to the Pale Editor, but a $10 fee is charged for hard copy only.
- Emailed ads are not recieved until a reply from the Pale editor is sent.
- If you are submitting your announcement via the postal system, please
follow your mail with a phone call to ensure that it has arrived.
- If you are submitting your ad through express mail, please waive the
signature. The Pale Editor is not always home to receive this mail.
- All submissions should be sent to the Pale Editor.

Please note that in calling these "event announcements" instead of "ads",
that I am only dealing with semantics and trying to clarify things in my
own mind.
Please try to fit your ad in the space allotted. I will resize or edit out non-essential information
to make an ad fit, but it is generally better if you have it sized and laid out correctly before you submit it.
