Come join us for our autumn session of the Royal University of the Midrealm, hosted by the combined efforts of the Incipient Shire of Aonach na Naoi n-Duileach and the Shire of Swordcliff! Enjoy a day filled with classes ranging from administration through the arts and sciences all the way to the martial arts --- and then some. Learn about things you never knew before, brush up on things you haven't tried in years, and volunteer to teach. Join your friends in classes for the day, for merriment and entertainment and of course, education!
Schedule:
- 9 am: Site Opens
- 10 am to 12 noon: Classes
- 12 noon to 1 pm: Lunch
- 1 pm to 5 pm: Classes
- 5 pm to 6 pm: Court
- 6 pm to 8 pm: Dinner
- 8 pm to 10 pm: Guest Speaker/Dancing
- 10 pm: Site closes

Guest Speaker:
Dr. Karen Moranksi is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Illinois at Springfield and the Associate Director of Capital Scholars (an undergraduate honors program) at UIS. Her primary area of Academic interest is Medieval Women writers and the literature of the middle ages. She holds a BA from Tulane University and a MA and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is coeditor of the Publications of the Medieval Association of the Midwest, a journal highlighting the writings of midwesterners on medieval subjects. She is the Treasurer of the Illinois Philological Society. She is the author of the essay Prophetie Merlini discussing the rise of animal symbolism in political writing of the late Scotish medieval period.

Directions:
Take your best route to I-55 in Illinois and make your way to Springfield (middle of the state). Exit at Toronto Road East (Signs to University of Illinois at Springfield and Lincoln Land Community College). When Toronto Road curves left and passes Capitol Area Career Center (CACC), keep going ahead to traffic light at intersection with Shepherd Road (at the entrance to the Lincoln Land Community College campus); turn left (north) onto Shepherd Rd. and proceed a short distance to the south edge of the UIS campus. Continue on Shepherd Rd. looking for Parking Lot B. Park on the extreme left side of the parking lot (South East Side). Look for signs.

Hotel information:
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Baymont Inn, 5871 South Sixth St., Frontage Road East, Springfield, Illinois 62703. Phone 217 529-6655. Ask for the "SCA" block. Rate is $69 with up to four adults per room. The hotel is at Exit 90 (Toronto Road) immediately off Interstate 55. Non-smoking rooms are available. A complementary hot breakfast is served every morning. Hotel management has agreed to keep the indoor pool available to us until 1 a.m. Sunday morning. (Yay!)
