10 am A Practical Look at Producing a Newsletter
F. L. Watkins
A description of the physical production of a newsletter, concentrating on computer paste-up, preparation of masters and printing. F.L. Watkins has been a typographer for a quarter century, working on books for Knopf, Random House and University of Illinois Press, among others. He runs his own living-history publishing house, Folump Enterprises, and produced The Pale (the newsletter of the Middle Kingdom) for three years and The Würm Walder (the newsletter for the Urbana-Champaign branch of the SCA) for almost thirty.
11 am So What Are All the Judges Up To? (The Workings of an A&S Faire)

This class will cover what to expect from an A&S Faire -- whether you are entering a piece for the first time or coming to offer your help as a judge. We'll discuss just what the judges do, and how they use the Midrealm A&S Criteria to evaluate the pieces being entered.

How the SCA corporate structure is set up and what it does for you. Maestra Margherita Alessia (called Ghita) is the current Society Exchequer, and has now held every possible exchequer position in the SCA.
2 pm What is it like to be a Kingdom Officer?
A round table discussion on serving the Middle Kingdom.
3 pm Medieval Mindset

This class will discuss the core beliefs of those living in Christian Western European during the Middle Ages, comparing the beliefs to those of our day and age, and exploring what caused those core beliefs to change.
4 pm Tax Deductions and the SCA
Master Antonio di Casa d’Aqua (called ”Price”)
Learn how you could turn your participation in the SCA into a tax-deduction from Master Price, a retired professor of accounting. This class mostly applies to homeowners or people who have enough deductions to itemize on their taxes.

Members of the Ducal estate will answer your questions about anything. Just be careful what you ask ---you may get an answer and opinions may vary!
11 am How to bring your feast in on time and under budget.

A lecture style class with hand outs. The class will be an interactive class with input from those attending. Questions and answers. The class is one hour and has no size limit.
