The purpose of this class is provide some of the knowledge necessary to understand the range of skills that are needed, and to provide examples of drawing exercises for practice. The Internet as a Primary Resource

Mistress Helewyse de Birkestad There has been an amazing explosion of digitized libraries and collections in the past few years.  This means that there is a greater access to primary resources than ever before.  But the problem is that the resources are scattered across the planet, in many different languages and there is no central database.  This class will give an overview of some of the major resources, both in English, and in other languages, with an aim to point the student towards unique primary resources.  Some guidelines regarding search terms will be given, and a basic vocabulary for each site so that the user can search by title, keyword, author etc. Emphasis will be given to sources for food, herbals, ceramic, brewing and C&I mostly because of the instructors bias, but the websites discussed contain much much more information than that.
