New to the Marche?

Columbus, Ohio is the branch of The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) known as the Marche of Tirnewydd. The SCA is a not-for-profit educational group that recreates aspects of pre-17th century Europe. We are national in scope with branches all across the world - Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Italy, New Zealand, Iceland, the Netherlands, Scotland, Ireland, Spain as well as every state in the union, including Alaska and Hawaii.

We recreate and research many of the good aspects of the Middle Ages, including (but not limited to): costuming, sword fighting, cooking, calligraphy, illumination, story-telling, brewing, leather-work, dancing, glass blowing, pottery and archery. We've looked into just about everything that happened in this time period, except the plague!

Duke Sir Edmund and Duke Sir Comar talk during a typical meeting.

We are an educational group - our activities are based on historical events. We aren't a fantasy or role-playing group. However, we aren't stuffy or stiff! We have a lot of fun at our meetings -- why don't you come and see for yourself?

The Columbus group meets every Wednesday evening on The Ohio State University campus. See the directions page for more information about the meeting site. You can also contact Lord Anno Lynka, he's the "newcomers officer."

Meetings start around 7:30 p.m. and last until 11 p.m. During the average meeting you'll see sword fighting, fencing, story-telling and more!

Hope to see you there!
