Fly by Nite⦠Two Dogs Yarn Shop has a Proposition for you!
Do you remember the days of yore? Recall carpet or plastic armour? How about finding trim that almost, but not quite was period and making due because nothing better was available?
Want to work towards the A&S 50 challenge? Just want to fool around with Textiles?
Here is a contest for you!
Take any Non-period items to make as period looking an accessory as possible. Yes, you red the correctly. A panel of peers to be selected at a later date will be judging this contest at Grand Pageant. All you need to do is come up with a costuming accessory and make it from modern items or textiles that were not in common usage in period. Using whatever is your preferred craft form.
Minimal documentation necessary: preferably a portrait or drawing of a person in period either wearing or using the accessory along with notes on what you used, why you chose this substitution (easy care, durability, color, whimsy, etc), and/or which Laurel you bribed to forgot you have ever made it.
The Main Idea is to have fun with an anachronism
Their Excellencies, Moira and Torquil, will be holding a subtleties contest at the Feast.
This will be a contest for food sculptures to decorate the tables. Contestants may either bring pre-sculpted pieces of art work or may choose to pick from a basket of food items, which will be provided by Thier Excellencies, to carve and arrange on their table. Items will be judged between the last two course at the feast. All subtleties should be made entirely of edible items, with the exception of an occasional wooden stick for attachment or a very minor prop. Please help by bringing your own carving knives and a plate or tray for the item to be placed on in order to keep the tables neat and tidy in case your item or its creation is messy. We will have some to loan out, but not enough for everyone. Both adults and children are encouraged to participate and there will be some easier food items provided for younger children.
