This year we are moving Simple Day ahead a week to coincide with the change to Pennsic.
Come join us for a weekend of Fighting, Fun,
Classes, Fighting, Feast, Merchants, Fighting, Siege, and Friends.

Simple Day will be a Regional War Practice, and is still the last event at which to authorize for combat, combat archery, Siege Weapons, Fencing, or to upgrade your authorizations before the Pennsic War. There will also be a Torchlight Heavy Weapons Tourney on Friday night, and morning tourneys and Lists to challenge your skills before the battles and War Practice scenarios begin. Field, Bridge, and Tactical Development scenarios are planned. Combat archery and Siege weapon authorization and practice are planned. The Midrealm Siege commander will be here. An active course of Rapier combat is planned in both tournament and melee scenarios. This event is also a Kingdom Rapier Practice. The Archery range will open Saturday morning for practice and competition. Thrown weapons practice and competition should also be available.
For those less martially inclined, there will be Hound Coursing, several tracks of Classes, and through the efforts of the Hunt Guild, there will be a Red Cross® sponsored class on First Aid for the treatment of dogs.
There is a shaded playground central to the site. Check the Web site for Children’s and Youth activities.
There will be music and European Dancing under the Main Shelter on Friday and Saturday nights after dark.
We will have a Vocal and Instrumental
Bardic Fire
after dark on Saturday, and the
Drumfire will be a reasonable distance away –
Sorry, but there will be no drumming after midnight this year.
A wonderful Feast limited to 80 gentles will again be prepared by THLady Cordelia Barfleur, so reserve early. Feast price is $10.00 pre-reserved by July 15, 2007, and $12.00 at the door, if available. A tasty lunch will be served on Saturday afternoon for a mere $4.00.
Merchants are welcome with no merchant fees, so we hope to again have lots of wonderful shopping on site. Overnight tenting fees and a refundable cleanup / timely departure deposit of $25.00 will apply.
The Site opens at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, July 20,
2007, and closes at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, July 22, 2007.
Site Fee is $7.00 for the weekend. Children under 6 are free, children 6 to 17 years of age are half price. Minor waivers are required. Due to a change in Park management, camping fees this year are closer to real-world prices. Tent camping is $10.00 per camping tent for one night, $15.00 for both nights. Trailer and RV campers need to contact Johnson County Park management directly at (812) 526-6809 to make arrangements.
There will be designated
quiet and noisy camping
areas. Please check the maps as you sign in. Please note that while our areas
are large, and the quiet and noisy areas well separated, it is not so large that
noise from other campers or mundane activities in other parts of the Park may
not be heard.
