THANKS FROM THE STAFF
Greetings to all from the Autocrat,We've had another great year at Border War, and as your humble autocrat, I have a thank you list to inspire trembles in the hands of the most seasoned of scribes!
I owe much to the efforts of Lady Collette, Lady Antonia, and Lady Maria for helping with pre-planing and organizing. They served at a moments notice handling the unexpected, answering strange questions at odd hours, helping me remember what I was supposed to be doing and more that I can't possibly hope to list here.
Hiordis endured innumerable requests at all hours of the day and night to keep our website current and it looked fabulous! Thanks!
Thanks to Keilis, Roger, PJ, and all the folks from Little Italy for hauling trailers, hay bales, tents and more. Thanks also to Three Hills and the Fourth Wall for your tents and your tireless support. Thanks to all your efforts, we had dry hay bales for the battle and to return at the end of the weekend, and shade pavilions for our royalty and fighters.
Thanks to Rebecca and the troll staff for running troll, even when it threatened to float away!
Thanks to everyone who weathered the storms with grace and good humor!
Ligessac ran archery and even held little Danny while I did dishes.
Thanks to Isak for handling thrown weapons, and to you and Noah both for your help making those handsome new archery targets.
I saw more kids than I could count under the shade having fun with Morgan at children's activities, to say nothing of Duncan, Hiordis, Raghnailt and of course my own Lady Tessa for all their time spent entertaining my children.
Thanks to Lady Fiorre and all who helped make the stay pleasant and enjoyable for our Midrealm royalty.
Our Baron and Baroness returned from the Royalty Dinner with nothing but praise and I was sustained on Saturday myself by a delicious breakfast burrito from that same kitchen. Great Job Merrade and Ken!
Lady Emily and Baroness Catherine kept our parking area in order once again this year, at times in spite of my conflicting instructions! Thanks too to their excellencies Andelcrag for bringing along those parking signs I forgot!
To Rijckaert and Aelfwine and the countless other marshals and fighters who came to their aid thanks for making it a day to be remembered for our fighters.
Blackhart. No matter which way your hat faces, you're an invaluable asset to Border War.
I'm sure this list should be longer. If I've forgotten to mention you here, and if I didn't thank you in person, please forgive me, and know you have my gratitude. Many people speak of autocrating Border War as if it were the toughest job around. In truth, this job could never be done without the army of volunteers that really make this event happen. The autocrat is the lucky person who gets to see it all come together, and I must say, you people shine. Thank you all for giving me the best seat in the house.
Merci Beaucoup
~Armand
Greetings to all from the Kidocrat,
I would like to thank the wonderful women who came and helped with the youth activities. TJ and Heather, from Northgate, were especially great. I planned for more than we ended up having or needing, but all went well. We had as many as fifteen youth, though no more than 8 or 9 at any given time. There were about fifty youth in the camp. I'll need to focus on advertising more for next year.
The young treasure seekers followed maps (with the help of the adults) to find boxes of treasures. These they brought back to divide the loot. We only had to send a search party out after one eager, and overly energetic, group. They overshot their goal and paused to watch our fighters battle it out. After all booty was happily distributed, our future Dreamers turned their hands to knightly pursuits. They donned the colors of Rimsholt, mounted their trusty steeds, and took up their. . . colorful, if flimsy, lances. (pool noodles) They raced each other through a series of tasks to save the foolish princesses who kept getting entrapped by evil monsters. . . again and again! All in all, a grand time was had by everyone.
A special thanks goes out to those few youth who stayed behind to help clean up afterwards. Anna and Izzy were great! They even helped me load it back in the car.
So, thank you to all who helped and all who enjoyed the activities!
