BYLAWS for the Canton of Templemede
Here is the current bylaws we have in effect. Mostly
pertaining to Officers, and the finance committee.
A: The Bylaws
- Once approved and voted into Canton Law, the bylaws may not be changed or altered prior to the scheduled review date, save by a unanimous vote of the officers supported by a clear majority of the populace (75%)
- All bylaws shall be reviewed and voted on every 2 years with the changing of the Seneschal's
Office.
- No bylaw may be passed that violate, any city, state, federal, corporate, or Kingdom law.
- All matters of import will be handled at the monthly business meeting, unless in the case of
emergency.
B: The Officers
- Elections shall be held at the January
Meeting with the officers elect assuming the office in
the following April meeting.
- The time between election and office change
shall be used by both the current and officers elect
to transition the office.
- The elections of offices shall be on a
rotating cycle with the Seneschal, Minister of Arts and Sciences, Marshall, and Chronicler being voted on in even years, and the
Exchequer, Herald, Chatelaine, Web, and Minister of Youth being
voted on in odd years.
- All voting shall be by blind ballot and all
active members will have a vote.
- No officer shall serve more than 2
consecutive terms of office without canton approval.
- No mundane household may have more than one
office within it unless approval from the populace is
first given.
- All officers shall perform all duties of
their office as laid down by Society, Kingdom, and
local law to the best of their ability, and in the
best interest of the Canton, Barony, Kingdom, and
Society as a whole without regard for personal
differences or agendas.
- Failure of any officer to perform their
duties including the timely submission of reports may
result in removals of said officer by a populace vote of at least 75%. Failure to submit a Domesday Report shall be considered resignation of office.
C: Events
- Any member in good standing with the SCA,
INC., may submit a bid for an event.
* Preference shall be given to any member of the canton who submits a bid.
a. In the event that no bids are found satisfactory, the finance committee must present all bids to the populace, and the populace may vote to cancel the event by a two-thirds (67%) majority
- All bids shall be submitted sealed to the
financial committee during the meeting one month prior
to the canton meeting in which the bids will be voted
on by the populace.
- The financial committee shall have one
month to review the bids and recommend the three best
bids to the canton for voting. The review shall
include but is not limited to the cost of the event,
how successful their event appears to be and the event
record of the individual submitting the bid.
D: Financial committee
- The financial committee shall consist of the
Seneschal, the Exchequer, and one general member of
the populace.
- No expenditure of money shall be made without
first approval of the finance committee.
